Legion of Mary
The Legion of Mary is a worldwide Catholic organization based in local parishes designed to increase the spiritual development of its members and the local community. Each week its members attend a meeting (1.5 hours) where the Rosary and Legion prayers are recited, a different Legion Headbook reading is read and discussed, prior week's work reports are presented, and new work assignments are scheduled. Each week members perform work assignments (2 hours) in two member teams. The work comes from the Pastor and usually involves visiting the needy (physically, spiritually, emotionally, mentally) and spreading the Gospel message. Evangelization is also a primary objective. In addition to "permanent" members, "auxiliary" members support the Legion through daily praying of the Tessera (the Legion prayer) and the rosary.
There is an English, Spanish and French speaking Legion of Mary at St. Martin's. To join, check the bulletin for meeting time/place (You may also contact the Parish Office). All are welcome—the harvest is plentiful and the workers very needed.
